Paperclay - Tentacles-LoFire, Body-Raku
14”H x 7”W x 7”D
Nisei Week Ceramics Exhibition 2008, Los Angeles, CA
Art imitating Nature. After discovering paperclay, I decided to create a relatively simple organic shape that has tentacles in it. I started my research on sea anemones from the internet. The more I learned about them, their shape, design and geometry, the more complex they seemed. What awed me was the geometry of their tentacle arrangement. At first glance, they seem rather randomly positioned, however, on further research, I was stuck by the beauty in their design. Wow! My anemone does not do justice to what Nature's can come up with. Such beatuy in such a seemingly simple creature. It was a very humbling experience.
